Your sedan, SUV, or light pickup just quit on Winchester Road or Hickory Hill Road. You need a local operator who can find that lot or shoulder. Hickory towing starts with the street name, what the car is doing, and where you want it taken.

Share the exact Hickory Hill road or lot

Hickory Hill is southeast Memphis. It’s not Germantown, not Whitehaven, and not Southaven. The roads that locate you are Winchester Road, Hickory Hill Road, the I-240 ramps, and SR-385, the Bill Morris Parkway. West of that grid, Lamar, Getwell, and Perkins are Parkway Village.

“I’m in Hickory Hill” is too wide. Name the road and the nearest cross street. In a Winchester retail lot, name the store and which side of the building. Drop a phone pin. A plaza west of Hickory Hill Road is not the same stop as one east of it.

A stall in a parking lot is a different job from an I-240 shoulder. Say which one you’re in. If you’re in a driveway or apartment lot, say whether a wrecker can pull straight in. Describe what you can see. Don’t guess about gates or height bars.

Hickory Hill Road is the neighborhood spine. Winchester is the east-west commercial street. I-240 is the beltway edge. SR-385 is the parkway on the south and east side. Those four places change how a truck approaches.

Keep people out of live lanes. Hazard lights on. This page is for cars, SUVs, and light pickups. A freight box on the same streets is a different dispatch. If that’s you, use our Hickory Hill box-truck breakdown guide.

Describe what the car does now

Dispatch needs the failure, not a shop diagnosis. Say if it cranks and won’t fire, rolled then died, is overheating, sitting on a flat, or stuck out of gear. Say whether the parking brake will release. Those facts decide a roadside fix versus a ride on a truck.

A no-start in a Hickory Hill lot is a common call. Use our guide for a car that won’t start in a Memphis parking lot. Still give the year, make, model, and drivetrain.

Drivetrain changes the load. Honda’s 2024 Civic Sedan manual prefers a flatbed and allows a front-axle wheel-lift if the parking brake will release. Subaru’s 2020 Legacy and 2023 Outback guides prefer a flatbed for all-wheel drive. Mazda’s 2024 MX-5 should travel with the rear drive wheels off the ground. Check the emergency-transport section for your year and trim.

Have the keys. Don’t pull a disabled car with a trunk strap.

If this started as a crash, say so. Inside Memphis city limits, the owner’s choice of towing company is honored, with three exceptions decided by MPD: the company isn’t permitted, it can’t respond in a reasonable time, or the vehicle is an immediate traffic hazard.

Decide whether roadside help or a tow fits

Some Winchester stops never need a wrecker. A usable spare, a fuel delivery, or minor mechanical help can put the car back in gear. That work is roadside assistance.

On I-240 or SR-385, TDOT HELP patrols free, Monday through Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The list is exact: flat changes, fuel delivery, minor mechanical help, and clearing blocking vehicles. HELP doesn’t tow to a shop, a home, or a lot. Jump starts aren’t on that list. After 8:30 p.m., or any time the car has to leave the corridor, you need a private operator.

Call for a tow when the car can’t roll safely, the spare is gone, the drivetrain shouldn’t turn, or you need it at a shop. That’s emergency towing for a passenger vehicle. Operators usually use a wheel-lift or a flatbed for cars and light pickups. Online lists sometimes name three types of towing. For a Hickory Hill sedan, those two trucks plus a roadside fix cover the real choices.

Quick Tow Memphis is a referral service. We match you with a local operator. The operator does the work and contracts with you. We don’t own the wrecker. The line at (901) 557-8700 takes calls 24/7. Your call routes to the operator covering your zone.

Explain I-240 or Winchester access

I-240 is the loop. A stall on the ramp or shoulder is an interstate job. Winchester Road is a surface street with lots and driveways. Hickory Hill Road cuts through the neighborhood. SR-385, Bill Morris Parkway, is the parkway on the south and east side of this pocket.

Tell dispatch which of those four you’re on. Name your direction of travel. Eastbound Winchester isn’t westbound Winchester when a car is blocking a turn. Describe the access you can see. Don’t pick a ramp for the driver.

On I-240 and SR-385 during HELP hours, a patrol truck may already be on the loop. Check TDOT SmartWay for cameras and incident notes, or dial 511. HELP won’t take the car to your mechanic. A shop in East Memphis, a house in Hickory Hill, or a lot across town is a private tow.

Winchester lots can sit tight between parked cars. Say if you’re hemmed in or under a canopy. Low-clearance sports cars are worth flagging. Chevrolet’s 2013 Corvette manual says a disabled Corvette should travel with all four wheels off the ground. The 2014 Stingray manual directs a flatbed and says a wheel-lift could damage the vehicle. Check your year and trim.

Wait out of I-240 travel lanes. On Winchester, wait on the sidewalk or inside the store. Keep the phone on.

Confirm the destination and quote

Name the drop before anyone hooks the car. A shop on Winchester, a house off Hickory Hill Road, a dealer toward Germantown, or the lot you already parked in. On an owner-requested tow, the car goes where you send it. It doesn’t go to a mystery yard unless you asked for storage, or a city wrecker took it.

If Memphis Police, the Shelby County Sheriff, or Housing and Community Development towed it, the car processes through the MPD Vehicle Storage Lot at 465 Klinke Avenue, Memphis, TN 38127. There’s no separate Shelby County lot and no online lookup. Call (901) 636-8200. The city’s fees, never ours, are $135.00 to impound and $30.00 per day to store, excluding winching or other extra charges. Bring proof of ownership, the plate or VIN, and a valid photo ID.

For a tow you request, our standard light-duty hookup starts at $95. That’s our published floor, not a market average and not a cap on the operator’s total. Distance, vehicle size, time of day, truck type, and hookup difficulty all move the number. Ask for the full total with mileage included before you agree. Ask what would change it. We put the total in writing before dispatch, and you get an itemized invoice. There’s no membership and no annual fee. We don’t claim to be the cheapest tow company in Hickory Hill.

Tennessee doesn’t require auto insurance to include towing. Whether a bill is covered depends on your policy. If a non-consent tow has started but the car hasn’t left its original parking location, it must be released on the spot when the owner or operator pays a release fee. A release fee of more than $100 is prohibited on that kind of tow.

When to call us

Call when the passenger car can’t leave Winchester, Hickory Hill Road, I-240, or a local lot on its own. Call when you need a wheel-lift or a flatbed, not a shoulder repair you can’t finish. Call us at (901) 557-8700.
